Join bestselling craft book author Wendy Ward for a day of dressmaking. You will make a pull- on easy jersey skirt from her new book “A Beginner’s Guide to Making Skirts” and also have a copy of the book to take away with you to make more jersey skirts and try the 7 other patterns included in the book!
This workshop is ideal for beginners and don’t be scared of sewing jersey fabrics, we’ll be using a regular sewing machine and Wendy will guide you through setting up the machine to sew stretch fabrics – it’s a lot easier than you think! There are lots of different ways to make this skirt; different lengths, adding gathering to the side seams and colour blocked panels so you will be able to make it really suit your own style.
Brighton based, Sheffield born and bred, Wendy has been teaching dressmaking to adults since 2007. She worked as a designer in the fashion industry for seven years, has a degree in Fashion Design, an MA in Design and is a qualified teacher. She also has her own regular column in Love Sewing magazine. She will be joining Running With Scissors for one day only as part of a sewing tour of the UK so don’t miss out. Wendy’s first dressmaking book “The Beginner’s Guide to Dressmaking” has stayed in the top 3 of Amazon’s chart for Dressmaking books since publication in November 2014.
