Do you need to create that perfect piece of head wear for your next occasion? Amanda of Amanda Moon Headwear, Sheffield-based Milliner, you can guide you through the process of making professionally finished ribbon bands or fascinators whatever your occasion. You will leave with a uniquely designed piece of headwear that is intent on matching your personality and style.
We offer two workshops with Amanda for a half day or full day course.
This is a great workshop for those who enjoy making at home, as it is a skill that can be transferred to more than just hair accessories eg; brooches, necklaces, dress trimmings. You will be taught how to fold ribbons to create roses of different scales and effect; soft and light or more structured. You may also want to add beading to add an additional dimension to flowers. You will complete a piece on a headband or a fascinator base. This is a technique Amanda uses regularly to make accessories for her clients. It’s just a good flower to know how to make! Basic sewing skills needed.
This workshop introduces you to some commonly used techniques found in the making of fascinators and hats. You will learn to manipulate sinamay, creating ribbons and shapes using rolled edges. Alongside developing your ability to use sinamay, you will also look at a variety of feather techniques. With ideas in hand, we will look at how you can bring your feathers and sinamay together to create an elegant piece.
