Come along every fortnight for 6 weeks to enjoy some “me time” and build your crochet skills. Crochet has been growing in popularity for several years now. It has truly come out of the shadow of its former dowdy, old fashioned image and is now being appreciated for the creative, fun, colourful activity that it is. Research has also shown that crochet is good for your mental and physical health. It is relaxing and encourages mindfulness. It improves motor skills and it is a great way to make new social connections.
Over the course of the 6 weeks, we will be creating different crochet blocks that will build into a complete blanket by the end of the course. You will receive tuition for each section of the blanket from our experienced crochet tutor Laura. Techniques will become more advanced as the course progresses. This will build your crocheting confidence and you will gain many transferable skills.
The course will show you how to follow both written patterns and those that use symbols. We will create blocks using the following techniques: bobbles, cables, ribbed/ crochet around the post, interlocking circles, lace stitches, intarsia (using colour to create patterns), incorporation of flowers into blocks, waves and ripples and much more.
This workshop is suitable for those who are relatively new to crochet but can do basis stitches, as well as those who want to grow their knowledge and skills. If you have never crocheted before then you might want to consider the Beginners One Day Workshop to make sure that it is for you before committing to the course.
A crochet hook, lots of yarn and an instruction sheets are all included in the price of the course. All you need to bring along is yourself and your enthusiasm.
