Wow your friends with your own hand made Little Black Dress in time for your Christmas Parties and events! Ideal for those of you who want to learn or improve dress making skills. On this mini dress making course, all participants will create the Little Black Dress as featured in the Great British Sewing Bee publications. Despite all doing the same project, we will end up with individual products as our experienced seamstress and tutor Cathie guides you through measuring and fitting the dress to your exact shape and size. There will be flexibility in personal taste for embellishments, collar shaping, length of dress as well as other subtle features. Plus – nobody says it has to be black!
We will covers transferable dress making skills such as inserting zips, creating buttonholes, adding interfacing, creating darts, sewing on buttons etc. We will be able to advise on how to read a pattern, fabric section, altering a pattern to fit you better and professional finishing techniques.
The course is suitable for beginners to dressmaking, but it would be advantageous if you are able to thread a sewing machine or have created a few sewing projects already such as cushions. There are six Running With Scissors machines available to use at the workshop, however you can bring your own if you wish. Please note that if you bring your own machine it will be up to you to make sure that it is in good working order and is safe to use. Running with Scissors cannot take responsibility for use of machines other than our own.
Can be made in sizes 6- 22
