Shirt in a Day
Sat 13th June 2020 (10am - 5pm)
Fancy shirts in snazzy prints are in all the shop windows, but how many people can say they make their own? Trawl the fabric shops for the most beautiful fabrics and buttons and come learn all the tricky, fiddly bits involved in making a shirt, from yokes to facings to plackets to collars. Samples and practice pieces for the tricky bits will be provided so you can try it out before you commit on the real thing. You’ll go away really understanding how all the fancy bits work so you can fill your wardrobe (or someone else’s!) with fabulous custom shirts.
Bring your choice of fabric for a shirt, with contrasting bits for facings if you like. You’ll need about 2.5 – 3.5 metres, depending on size, of which 1/2 metre can be contrast. You will need 10 buttons.
The workshop is lead by our seamstress and experienced tutor Grace. You are sure to pick up lots of useful tips as well as enjoying a friendly day of sewing, creating and plenty of hot drinks.
