Bring along all those clothes which have been pushed to the back of your wardrobe for a day of sewing, upcycling and remaking. You may leave with a refreshed clothing item, a bag, cushions or who knows what. You will gain pinning, sewing, fitting and many more transferable skills. To start with, Sally from Threddit will show examples of her work from a super simple bag made from a vest top, to more ambitious designs with elements taken from several garments. We will then take a peek at what everyone has brought with them and the bank of haberdashery and material samples. Then the real fun starts. We all throw in ideas and re-imagine how our tired garments can be transformed into something we would love to wear or have in our home. So silk scarves become sumptuous cushions, skirts make quirky bags, or sometimes small alterations can turn something that wasn’t quite right into something wearable.
This one day is workshop is suitable for complete beginners right through to experienced sewers, as it’s all about being creative and gaining / improving sewing skills and techniques. It also allows you the time and space to design and get a project finished.
So if you hate throwing those old clothes away, then this workshop is for you. Upcycling is a brilliant way to get into creating your own clothes without spending a fortune on materials. Oh and there’s hot drinks and biscuits.
